2006 Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award
The Prince William County–Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce awarded the 17th annual Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award to Shaken Baby Prevention, Inc. and Matthew's Center For Visual Learning at the Community Showcase Luncheon held on Tuesday, February 28th, at the Best Western Battlefield Inn. Catherine Sanders of Shaken Baby Prevention, Inc. and Laurie Heilman, Executive Director of Matthew's Center For Visual Learning accepted their one thousand dollar checks and plaques commemorating their organizations' outstanding work in the community.
The money for the award was raised by the Chamber’s Community Relations Committee at the annual Cuisine de Commerce Luncheon held every year in November.
The Community Showcase is one of the many benefits of membership in the Prince William County–Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the luncheon is to highlight member nonprofits and the work they perform in the community. Not only are they offered free exhibit space at the event in which to distribute information about their organization and its mission, but their services are also highlighted to other businesses through the Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award nomination and award process. This year’s luncheon was sponsored by Virginia Commerce Bank.
